For more than 15 years, I have been joining host Jane Lindholm, on her daily show called Vermont Edition. Each year we talk once in the spring and once in the fall about birds. We’ve also taken the bird talk on the road with multiple live shows across the state as part of Jane’s podcast, But Why? A curious podcast for kids and their parents. In July of 2019, I was interviewed for NHPR’s Morning Editions piece called “Ask Sam”. The humorous episode answers a listener’s question about why birds seem to swoop in front of cars. Then in April of 2020 during the COVID-19 quarantine, I was interviewed for the podcast Outside/In for an episode called A Beginner’s Guide to Backyard Birding. Click here to listen to these pieces through NHPR.
2020 was my American Birding Association year! I had an online story published for the June issue called Backyard Big Year Family Style which was paired with Rob Fergus’s Go Big & Go Home story about backyard birding. Later in August, I joined Nate Swick for an episode on the American Birding Podcast called Secrets of Slow Birding. Click here to find content from me on the ABA website.
Talkin' Birds is a live and interactive radio show about wild birds and the beauty of nature—attracting birds to your backyard, feeding them, and learning more about them. I got to be a guest in March of 2021 to talk about Slow Birding and the Birder Broker community science project.
In July of 2021, I was invited to join Adam Cruickshank on The Birding Life podcast which is out of South Africa! Adam had heard the American Birding podcast interview and wanted to learn more about the Slow Birding approach.
In December of 2021, I joined Howard Fox on his podcast the Outdoor Adventure Series to talk about Slow Birding. I met Howard in the fall at the Outdoor Writers Association Conference when he came out on one of my bird outings during the week. During the podcast, we talk about Slow Birding and the importance of finding ways to connect with nature for our enjoyment and for our health.
