Slow Birding is a practice that builds a deeper observation of birds with the intention of knowing more about the whole bird in addition to identification. This is a mindful approach that uses the sit spot method of observation to anchor our experience to a place and connect with ourselves as well as the birds.
Join Bridget at 6:00 pm prior to her presentation for a short guided sit-spot session to explore her Slow Birding practice. We’ll try some simple exercises for expanding our awareness, using mindfulness, and deepening our connection with birds wherever we may encounter them.
During the presentation, Bridget will share her practice of Slow Birding and how you can awaken your innate birding skills and reconnect with nature. Slow Birding is a useful approach for beginner birders and experienced birders alike. Beginning birders find it a more relaxed entry into learning birds and experienced birders enjoy the feeling of letting go of list-driven birding and seeing birds with a fresh perspective. Birders with limited mobility will find that Slow Birding is a practice that focuses on nature connection without the need to travel or cover long distances.
